The TOSKIN was launched in the winter of 2021, with the intention of designing comfortable and affordable premium quality bodywear. TOSKIN stands both for "to skin" and "two skins". We sew items in different sizes, including +sizes, while all of them are produced in small and conscious batches.

We are often asked why would we open our own separate production studio if the founder of the brand lives in Mainland China and it would be more convenient and much cheaper to produce our TOSKIN-s there. And at first we did so, but at some point it became obvious that our ideas about working in the garment industry did not quite correspond to reality.

02 conscious production

"Every time our customer puts on her or his TOSKIN, we want them to be sure, that the person who sewed this item for them, could take a break from the work any moment to drink a cup of hot tea. Myself as a person who had nothing to do with sewing or clothes designing at all, I have never thought that being a tailor is such a huge load for the back, neck and eyes, and it includes both gross and motor skills. Even visiting small family sewing factories as a guest, with a very friendly and pleasant atmosphere, it was pretty clear that even in such family productions, tailoring job can be very challenging and uncomfortable. It turned out that tailors have chronic back issues and problems with eyesight, and plus, not to mention, that it's mostly a female work! When you think about the back or the eyes of some unknown random tailor who sewed a T-shirt for you somewhere really far-far away, well, maybe you'll just think that it's sad, but you'll still continue to wear this T-shirt, although if you imagine that this tailor is, for example, your mom or another person you love, and it's about health of your loved one, then you start thinking differently" - Anna-Maria, project manager

Tailors of our sewing studio:
- Don't get more than 4 working shifts a week
- Shifts do not last longer than 7 working hours
- Have access to the gymnastic area inside the studio
- Have access to a first aid kit, drinking water, hot drinks and snacks inside the studio at the expense of the brand
- Can arrange their own work schedule
and take women's leave off
- Get taxi back home at the expense of the brand if the shift is ended in the evening
- Receive transparent and detailed salary reports each month

We are trying to work directly with all the suppliers of raw materials whose products are involved in TOSKIN manufacturing and we try our best to choose them as carefully as we can. If we have the opportunity, we never miss a chance to meet our suppliers in person or at least get to know each other better online. We work directly with our fabric manufacturers and we have several times visited their factory in person.

Once TOSKIN was launched, as probably every aspiring entrepreneurs, we suffered from an irresistible desire to cutomize as many things as possible. And that's what we did, we customized paper bags, paper boxes, postcards and even the tape!

But now we gave up on paper bags, paper boxes and postcards
with product care instructions. So instead:

- Care instructions can be found on our website and in social networks.
- TOSKIN orders are packed in a bag sewed out of vintage cotton fabric.
And this bag can later be repeatedly used in the household.

Also, almost from the very beginning, with every online order we send a bamboo toothbrush or a reusable glass straw as a gift to our customers, as well as we do eco-promotions in showrooms. We understand that we are still very far from the true zero-waste production, but at least we know that today we are trying to be more caring, more sustainable and more conscious than yesterday.
